Aperture • physical light
A lower f-number lets in more light at the same shutter duration. At 14mm, this lens can open to f/4.
Aperture is the lens opening. A lower f-number lets in more light at the same shutter duration.
The RF-S 14–30mm has a variable maximum aperture: f/4 at 14mm and f/6.3 at 30mm. Zooming changes the largest relative opening this lens can provide.
At 30mm, use f/6.3 or smaller. Zoom out to 14mm for f/4; add light or adjust ISO if the result is too dark.

Each frame collects light for 1/50 second. A longer exposure collects more light and more movement.
ISO 400 changes output brightness, not incoming light. With little captured light, noise can become easier to see.
